At a Glance: Cheoksan Spatel offers a tranquil retreat with natural hot springs, modern facilities, and scenic views, ideal for relaxation.
Checking into Cheoksan Spatel (척산온천휴양촌) is straightforward, yet it sets the tone for your stay. The standard check-in time is at 14:00, with family rooms available from 18:00. On my last visit, the staff greeted me warmly and efficiently handled my reservation. I appreciated the quick process, allowing me to head straight to my room.
How are the room quality and cleanliness at Cheoksan Spatel?
The rooms at Cheoksan Spatel are well-kept, providing a comfortable environment for guests. With a total of 44 rooms available, you can choose between traditional ondol (under-the-floor heating) rooms and standard bedrooms. Each room features its own small bath supplied with hot springs water, which I found quite enjoyable after a day of exploring.
During my stays, I noticed the cleanliness was consistently high. The housekeeping staff seemed attentive to detail, ensuring that everything was spotless and well-maintained. However, if I’m being honest, the decor could use some updates to feel more modern.
Is the location actually convenient?
Yes, the location is quite convenient for accessing nearby attractions. Situated in Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do, it’s only about a 10-minute drive from spots like the Sokcho Museum and Seoraksan Botanical Garden. If you’re keen on hiking, Seoraksan National Park is also nearby.
The area surrounding Cheoksan Spatel provides a peaceful atmosphere with walking paths through a pine grove and an observation deck that offers views of Ulsan Peak in Seoraksan Mountain. This makes it easy to unwind without venturing too far from your accommodation. Let me know if you have a different experience.
What about price vs. what you actually get?
Room rates vary depending on the season and type of accommodation but generally provide good value considering the access to hot springs and on-site facilities. Prices are reasonable when compared to other hot spring resorts in South Korea.
To be fair, for instance, your stay comes with complimentary access to the hot springs area, which includes various types of baths and spa services at the Ladies’ Spa Healing Center. There’s also an outdoor water park for those traveling with family. Keep in mind that dining options are available on-site at Second’s Coffee and a Korean restaurant located in an annex.
Who should (and shouldn’t) book this place?
This place is best suited for travelers looking to unwind and take advantage of natural hot springs in a serene setting. If relaxation is your priority and you enjoy therapeutic baths and scenic views, you’ll appreciate what Cheoksan Spatel has to offer.
However, if you’re seeking a busy nightlife scene or extensive shopping options right outside your door, you might want to look elsewhere. The location is tranquil but not ideal for those who thrive on constant activity. Have you ever found yourself wishing for more excitement when staying somewhere quiet? Just keep that in mind when making your reservation.
