At a Glance: Gangwon Provincial Arboretum offers diverse gardens and activities for nature lovers in Chuncheon, South Korea.
Expecting a simple garden? That’s what I thought when I visited Gangwon Provincial Arboretum (강원도립화목원). In reality, it’s a lush retreat with over 30 themed gardens and plenty of interactive experiences. It’s a spot where the community can unwind while learning about various plant species and enjoying seasonal attractions.
What makes Gangwon Provincial Arboretum (강원도립화목원) worth visiting?
This arboretum stands out for its diverse range of plant life, with around 1,800 species showcased. You can stroll through the Four Seasons Botanical Garden and marvel at the changing colors throughout the year. The cherry blossom trail is particularly lovely in spring, while autumn brings a beautiful chrysanthemum exhibition.
Each area has its charm. The subtropical plant garden features exotic flora that feels worlds apart from Korea. If you have kids, the Children’s Garden offers a nature playground that keeps them engaged and entertained. I appreciated how each garden tells its own story, making every visit feel fresh. Let me know if you have a different experience.
