During my first visit to Jeonju, I was pleasantly surprised by the charm of staying in a hanok (traditional Korean house). Ducksugung (전주 한옥마을 덕수궁) caught my attention for its blend of modern amenities and traditional aesthetics. It’s located conveniently across from Jeonju Hanok Village, making it an ideal base for exploring the area.
What are the rooms like at Ducksugung (전주 한옥마을 덕수궁)?
The accommodation features eight rooms, each designed with ondol (heated floor) to provide comfort throughout your stay. There are seven couples’ rooms and one larger room suitable for four people. Each room comes equipped with essential amenities such as a private bathroom, mini-refrigerator, and television. Although there’s no in-room cooking allowed, you can prepare simple meals in the shared kitchen.
Honestly, the ondol floors felt incredible during my visit. Just be aware that space might feel limited if you’re traveling with a larger group, so plan accordingly.
How convenient is the location?
Ducksugung is strategically located at 10 Gannap-ro, Wansan-gu, Jeonju-si, Jeonbuk-do. The proximity to Jeonju Hanok Village allows for easy access to cultural sites within walking distance. You can reach attractions like Jeondong Catholic Church and Gyeonggijeon Shrine in about 10-15 minutes on foot.
If you’re arriving by public transport, the nearest bus stops are nearby, making it convenient to navigate around Jeonju without a car. Just a heads up though: parking is available on-site if you decide to drive, which adds to the convenience of this location. Let me know if you have a different experience.

Apart from comfortable sleeping arrangements, Ducksugung offers several practical amenities that enhance your stay. There’s no on-site dining, but having a shared kitchen means you can cook light meals if needed. Additionally, you can rent traditional hanboks at a discount for those perfect photo opportunities around Hanok Village.
The hotel provides private parking as well, which is a bonus for travelers with their own vehicles. Keep in mind that check-in starts at 15:00 and check-out is at 11:00; it’s good to stick to these times for smooth transitions.
Is Ducksugung (전주 한옥마을 덕수궁) good value for the price?
The value offered by Ducksugung is quite reasonable considering its location and facilities. Prices vary based on the season and room type but generally range from ₩100,000 to ₩150,000 (approximately $74 to $111 USD) per night. Given its position right next to Jeonju Hanok Village, it’s hard to argue against that price point.
One thing that bugged me a little was the lack of dining options within the property. However, you’re surrounded by great restaurants offering local specialties like bibimbap (비빔밥) and jeon (전), so you’ll definitely find something delicious nearby.
