At a Glance: Experience the thrill of ziplining at Gangjin Ziptrek, Korea's longest zipline with breathtaking views and a unique maritime twist.
The moment you step onto the platform at the top of the celadon tower in Gangjin, it hits you: this is going to be exhilarating. As you gear up for the zipline adventure, the panoramic views of Gaudo Island stretch out below, making every second spent waiting feel like a lifetime. Then, as you launch off into the air, it feels like you’re flying. The rush is incredible.
What activities are available at Gangjin Ziptrek (강진 짚트랙)?
Gangjin Ziptrek offers one main attraction: an impressive zipline that spans about 1 kilometer. This makes it the longest zipline experience in Korea. Starting from a height of 25 meters, you’ll glide from the sixth floor of a celadon tower down to ground level. The descent provides not only adrenaline but also stunning vistas of the surrounding landscape and nearby waters.
The facility operates year-round, from 09:30 to 17:30, making it accessible no matter when your trip takes place. I found that visiting in late afternoon offered fantastic lighting for photography; capturing those sweeping shots of the coastline can make your friends quite jealous.
How much does it cost to participate?
For adults, the fee to experience this thrilling zipline ride is ₩25,000 (about $18.50 USD). If you’re a high school student or younger, you’ll pay just ₩17,000 (about $12.60 USD). Given that these prices include all safety gear and provide access to such an exciting ride with amazing scenery, they felt quite reasonable to me.
Do you need prior experience?
No previous experience is required to zipline at Gangjin Ziptrek. The only requirement is that participants must be at least 120 cm tall. Families can bring children along as long as they meet this height guideline. Safety equipment is provided and explained thoroughly before your turn on the line.
If I’m being honest, just trust your instructors; they’re knowledgeable and will ensure you’re secured properly before taking off. You might feel nervous standing on the platform, but once you’re airborne, all worries fade away.
How do you get there and what should you bring?
Getting to Gangjin Ziptrek is relatively straightforward if you’re driving; it’s located at 49-9 Gaudo-gil in Doam-myeon, Jeollanam-do. There’s parking available on-site for visitors which simplifies things considerably.
If you’re relying on public transport from nearby cities like Gwangju or Mokpo, consider taking a bus towards Gangjin and then getting a taxi for the last leg of your journey. When visiting, wear comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor activities and closed-toed shoes; sandals won’t cut it here!
