At a Glance: Garam Resort (가람리조트) offers unique outdoor activities and stunning photography spots in Hongcheon, Gangwon-do.
During my visit to Garam Resort (가람리조트), I was pleasantly surprised by the sheer variety of activities available. The year-round sledding slope caught my eye immediately, and it turned out to be a fantastic spot for both fun and photos. The vibrant green fields juxtaposed against the backdrop of distant mountains created some stunning shots.
Garam Resort is known for its outdoor activities, including a large artificial turf field, an outdoor swimming pool, and a barbecue area. The highlight is definitely the sledding slope, which is open throughout the year. You can slide down a 100-meter lane while enjoying the fresh air of Hongcheon.
Photographers will appreciate the versatility of this location. Early mornings provide soft light for capturing the landscape, while late afternoons give you that golden hour glow. Bring your camera; the colors can be breathtaking. Worth checking out for yourself.
How do you get to Garam Resort (가람리조트)?
The resort is located at 29 Buchaedeul-gil in Duchon-myeon, Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon-do. If you’re traveling by car, it’s about a two-hour drive from Seoul. Public transport options include buses that run from various points in Seoul directly to Hongcheon.
If you decide to take public transport, check local schedules as they can vary. I found that taking a bus in the early morning allowed me to arrive with plenty of time to explore before things got busy. Keep that in mind when you visit.
What should you know before visiting?
Before you go, keep in mind that prices for activities can vary. While sledding is worth trying, other activities may come with separate fees. It’s advisable to bring cash since some smaller vendors might not accept cards.
A practical tip: when using the barbecue area, arrive early to secure a good spot as these tend to fill up quickly during peak times. Also, remember that tipping is not expected in Korea; you can simply enjoy your meal without worrying about extra costs. Take that with a grain of salt though.
